Interview with Diviana Devour

Dirk Hooper - Greetings Diviana and thank you for the interview. You are listed in two separate areas on the Toxic Goddess Directory, as a model and a performer. Please give me a brief overview of your career.

Diviana Devour - I started out at 19 working in a few Nj/NYC dance clubs, rock clubs as a go-go dancer . I got into doing wardrobe, makeup then dancing/singing backup , music videos, album covers and music publications with Rock bands (Genocide, The Skulls, Misfits, Phantasm, Krank, Joey Ramone, Cheetah Chrome, Blondie, David Bowie, WASP, ) and more. I also had my own dance group in the 80's "LEATHER AND LACE" I performed at the ritz with Joey Ramone and friends (Blondie, Cheetah Chrome) and the limelight, the bank, the cat club various local NJ/NYC clubs. I have 3 portfolios to show for and a attic full of credits.

Dirk Hooper - How do you find time to do all that work?

Diviana Devour - Well I do my dance gigs and model shoots on the weekends , work out, fitness train, go to dance practice , take care of my home, family during the week.

Dirk Hooper - You have an impressive list of modeling credits. Can you tell me a bit about how you started in the business and some of your past highlights?

Diviana Devour - Well I started doing Go-Go to support my two daughters then naturally I met rock bands who hired me to work with them. I started going to rock clubs, then I was introduced into other areas of the business, modeling, featuring and the rest is history in the making.

I met and worked with some big names , Wasp, hung out with tons of famous celebrities(dated Ace Frehly ) I was always called Mrs Frehly by the Cat Club bouncers Lolls funny huh. I was respected and liked by many in the industry not half the crap did I go through with envy, jealousy or any BS I go through now. R&R was different. I worked with Punk, Gothic, metal bands. Dirk Hooper - You’re also a fusion dance performer. Can you describe what fusion dance is?

Diviana Devour - I am a Gothic Fusion dancer I do a combination of Middleastern dance with flamenco/East Indian influences to Gothic, ambient, electronica mixed middleastern music.

Dirk Hooper - Do you travel with your dance troupe?

Diviana Devour - I perform by myself locally and nationally as well as international when the project calls for it.

Dirk Hooper - Do you have any advice for new models that are starting in the business?

Diviana Devour - For new models , performers or anyone getting started in any profession. I can say . Just be yourself do your best, believe in yourself. Do not listen to everyone just the people who are worth your time. Do not fall for negativity or anything that will break you or bring you down. Be a fighter, be determined ambitious, creative and above all, real!

Dirk Hooper - What are you most excited about right now?

Diviana Devour - I have come back into show business and modeling after 4-5 years and it's been very hard but its finally coming together for me. I have met some very nice sincere and honest people who are helping me get through the motions and getting me the recognition I deserve after 18 years of working hard. Being in Horror films, hostess , featured gothic/horror model, I am a Living Dead Girls Model and I am a featured guest actress/model at Spooky empire , black sun festival, fetish weekend in Montreal. And other upcoming events.

I tried to attempt this over 15 years ago in NJ/NY while working with local and national rock bands.

Dirk Hooper - Do you have anything to add?

Diviana Devour - I have struggled, worked hard, raised two children, a God-child by myself. No help from family, partners, managers or agent. I survived, made accomplishments went after it all by myself. Anyone can do it. But one thing is for sure- with all the failures, struggles, slander, jealousies I have gone through its worth it and a relief to be appreciated, admired and respected for all your hard work

I have spent a life time learning, growing and becoming who and what I am. A well rounded, intelligent, talented woman who has reached her realm in life and knows who she is and what she wants.

Dirk Hooper - What does the future hold for you?

Diviana Devour - I am now planning to open my own nightclub with my Dad and run my fetish studio , Also open a alternative emporium all in one!!

I have a few investors and very dedicated slaves assisting me at this time.
